Your Body is Unique and Special

It tells the story of your life.

That’s why we believe we should be mindful of all the products we introduce into, or onto, the body. We want you to feel optimal wellness, so that your body tells the story of happiness, balance, comfort and clarity.

That’s why we won’t carry just any product. We ensure that all of our products are ethically sourced, local when possible, of the finest quality and made of only natural, nature-derived ingredients. We also believe in the therapeutic and healing properties of our own in-house TAP products, ones we make and blend by hand in small artisanal batches. Our goal is to offer hand-made products of the highest quality while keeping prices accessible.

We are also holistic guides and educators. We teach people about our products. This is why we ask you to take a glance at our FAQ section below, to answer some commonly asked questions:

Q: Why holistic healthcare?
A: Naturopathic and holistic healthcare is different from conventional medicine. It places the focus more on prevention and the underlying causes of ailments, rather than merely treating the symptoms. It encourages a “whole picture” of the body, where optimum wellness is viewed not just from the level of the body, but in conjunction with the mind and spirit. Through our holistic practices, we teach people to develop a better understanding of their own bodies and to heal from ailments on all levels for a more balanced approach.
Q: Why natural products?
A: We believe so passionately in natural products because natural ingredients, such as botanicals, are better for the environment and produce less chemical waste during production. They are also better for your body because they reduce your exposure to man-made toxins and synthetics. Our skin is our largest organ and reducing the amount of toxins that we absorb encourages better health.
Q: How do I ensure I’m using essential oils safely?
A: For your safety, we have a certified aromatherapist on staff to help guide you in using essential oils. We also have a number of reference books that can educate you on how to safely use oils in your everyday life. Of course, we always advise that you talk to your specialist or family doctor before using any oil regimen, especially if you are pregnant or have a medical condition such as epilepsy, high blood pressure, diabetes etc. Should you have an adverse reaction to an essential oil, please stop using immediately and seek professional/medical advice. Never use undiluted essential oils on the skin (or in the bath if you have sensitive skin).
Q: What is your return policy for in-store products?
A: We will gladly issue a credit note or exchange on unopened products within 7 days of purchase with the original receipt. In the event of a defective product, we will replace the item or issue a credit note when the product is returned within 14 days of purchase with a receipt. After the 14-day period, you must work with the manufacturer and their warranty policies.

Note: Unless defective, essential oils and blends cannot be returned.
Q: I see the term “carrier oil” used in several places. What is a carrier oil, what does it do, and why should I use it?
A: A carrier oil is a vegetable oil that is be used to dilute essential oils. Carrier oils ensure that topical application of essential oils doesn’t irritate the skin. Dilution with a carrier oil does not dilute the effect of the essential oil. In fact, it prevents waste due to excessive application. Some of the more common carrier oils are Fractionated Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil and Rosehip Seed Oil.

Note: Vegetable shortening, butter, margarine, or petroleum derivatives (such as mineral oil, baby oil, and petroleum jelly) should never be used as carrier oils.
Q: What is a “hot oil”?
A: “Hot oils” are oils that can cause a hot or warming sensation when applied to the skin. Examples of hot oils and blends include Cinnamon, Clove, Lemongrass, Oregano, Thyme. For some people, Peppermint’s cooling sensation can be too intense.

Note: We recommend using a patch test prior to first use. To perform a patch test, apply 1–2 drops of diluted essential oil to a patch of skin such as the forearm. Observe that area of skin over the course of 1–2 hours for any noticeable reaction. Some reactions may occur within 5–10 minutes of application. If you experience a hot or burning sensation, or develop a rash, flush the area with water and discontinue use.
Q: Can essential oils be applied to sensitive areas?
A: When it comes to essential oils, we recommend that you avoid contact with sensitive areas such as eyes, ears, genitals, and mucous membranes, as these delicate tissues can be easily irritated.
Q: If I book a spa service through TAP, where can I find parking?
A: Free street parking is available on Mavis and Glover and in the parking lot behind Trinity Western House (enter off Glover Road before the bridge or from Church Street). Additional public parking is also available underground, in the Coulter Berry building where TAP is located.
