Melissa is steam distilled from the leaves, twigs and flowers of the lemon balm plant. It takes three tons of lemon balm plant to produce one pound of the essential oil, hence the price point. It is used in cases of insomnia, dementia, diabetes and depression. It is known to assist digestion, reduce bloating, lower blood pressure and increase detoxification.
